Schubert - Sonata in A minor, Op.137/2 - Alto Flute
Schubert's Op.137 violin sonatas are delightful early works, written in 1816 when the composer was only 19 years old. Scholars often mention the influence of Mozart evident in these pieces. John W. Pratt adapted the violin part of the Sonata in A minor for alto flute—see for yourself how enjoyable it is to play.
Bach - Toccata, Adagio, and Fugue, BWV 564 - Piano Solo
As noted by Dr. Pratt in the foreword to his transcription, Bach's big organ works mostly fare badly on the piano, but BWV 564 is an exception. Atypically, it has a middle movement Adagio, which is gorgeous and benefits from the piano’s nuanced dynamics and articulation.
