Hello everyone!

We at Noteworthy Sheet Music have several exciting recent publications to tell you about.  You can learn more about the pieces featured below, as well as all our other catalog listings, on our website at www.NoteworthySheetMusic.com.

saint-saens fantaisie nsm 245Camille Saint-Saëns - Fantaisie Op.124 - transcribed for flute (and harp) by Peter H. Bloom.

Flutists now have access to a remarkable transcription of the alluring “Fantaisie” Op.124 by Camille Saint-Saëns.  A staple of the repertoire for violin & harp, the piece is also ideally suited for flute (and harp).  Flutist Peter H. Bloom's transcription captures the essence of the composer's work in all its virtuosity, intensity, and musical spirit.  Changes to the violin part were made with the intention of conserving Saint-Saëns’ ingenious creation—this transcription reflects a decade of study, experimentation, adjustment, and performance of the work by Mr. Bloom.

vercoe.kleemation nsmElizabeth Vercoe - Kleemation - for flute and piano.

We’re delighted to offer another of Elizabeth Vercoe’s highly-acclaimed compositions as a new pdf edition from NSM.  “Kleemation” is a compelling work that has received excellent critical reviews.  Written for flute and piano in five short movements, the piece was inspired by five drawings created by the Swiss-born artist Paul Klee.  “Kleemation”, performed by the duo “2”, is the title track from the Navona Records compact disk released in 2012 entitled Elizabeth Vercoe: Kleemation and Other Works”.  Other compositions by Elizabeth Vercoe available from NSM include “Fantavia” for flute and percussion and “To Music” for flute alone.

tchaikovsky.nutcracker flhp nsm

Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker - arranged for flute & harp or flute & piano by Mary Jane Rupert.

Mary Jane Rupert, pianist and harpist, is the newest contributor to Noteworthy Sheet Music’s catalog, which now lists over 100 works for flute or alto flute.  Dr. Rupert’s outstanding arrangement of “The Nutcracker” for flute and harp, published originally by New Boston Editions, has been re-edited by Dr. Rupert and re-notated by NSM.  The complete edition includes all of the pieces from the original Tchaikovsky Suite Op.71a, except the Overture.  The work is available either in its entirety or as individual pieces—March, Dance of the Sugar tchaikovsky nutcracker nsmPlum Fairy, Trepak (Russian Dance), Arab Dance, Chinese Dance, Dance of the Reed Flutes, and Waltz of the Flowers.

Dr. Rupert and NSM have also created a separate version for flute and piano of her Nutcracker arrangement.  These perennially popular pieces are perfect for holiday programming.

foster.old folks nsmStephen Foster - Old Folks at Home and Oh! Susanna - arranged with flute & cello ad lib by John W. Pratt.

John Pratt has created witty, entertaining new arrangements of two of the most famous songs written by Steven Foster.  "Old Folks at Home" (1851) established Foster as a truly American composer, and "Oh! Susanna" has endured as one of the best-known American songs by anybody, ever.  Great for sing-alongs, these arrangements provide harmonic and/or contrapuntal diversions/variations for every stanza (while preserving the melody), and also embellish them with optional but enhancing flute and cello parts.  The flute variations/excursions seem almost “Ives-ian” at times.

mozart k417 nsmMozart - Concerto No.2 in E-flat major - transcribed for alto flute & piano.

For alto flutists, we offer a transcription of Mozart’s “Concerto No.2 in E-flat major” for alto flute and piano.  Mozart’s horn concertos were composed for his good friend the virtuoso horn soloist Joseph Leutgeb.  The three movements are light, joyous, and teeming with melody.  We used an arrangement (ca.1890) of the concerto for horn and piano by Henri Kling as the basis for our transcription, and only minor changes were introduced to adapt the solo horn line for alto flute.

Preview pages of all these scores are available on our website.  To learn about other listings, please visit our complete catalog or browse by category from the pull-down menu under Sheet Music.   All our editions are available as convenient pdf downloads from the website.
