Flute Part and Piano Score, PDF $12.75

Jean-Louis Tulou (1786-1865) was a prominent, virtuoso French flutist, composer, and flute maker. He was a member of the orchestra of the Paris Opéra, and served as professor of flute at the Paris Conservatoire from 1829-1856. Tulou composed a great many works for flute, including 5 concertos and numerous solos and duets. In 1835 he published his "Méthode de Flûte", still valuable today as a guide to performance practice in the early 19th century and for instruction on playing pre-Boehm keyed flutes. We offer here our facsimile edition of Tulou's Introduction et Rondo pour la Flûte avec Accompagnement de Piano (Op.49), an energetic, enjoyable romp for flute.

Eugène Walckiers studied composition at the Paris Conservatoire with Anton Reicha and became a masterful, inventive, and prolific composer and arranger of 19th century chamber music.  Both his original compositions and his arrangements are deeply significant in their expression of a particular, highly developed aesthetic approach.  Walckiers' 2me Livre de Duos pour 2 Flutes, Opus 11, was dedicated to his friend Théodore Baltazaro and comprises three duets of three movements each.  NSM has re-notated all of the Opus 11 duets using a modern music composition software program.

A review written by Katherine Borst Jones was published in the September, 2013 issue Flute Talk

JRV-11Fantaisie pour la Flûte, Op.65, by Eugène Walckiers

Gassett Collection - Facsimile Edition by C.A.Vater/Noteworthy Sheet Music, with a Foreword by Peter H. Bloom

Flute Part and Piano Score, PDF $19.50

A student of Jean-Louis Tulou, Eugène Walckiers (1793-1866) was a flutist and an exceptionally talented composer.  His Fantaisie pour la Flûte Sur la Ronde du Postillon de Lonjumeau is a delightfully engaging and challenging work based on emblematic material from the comic opera by the French composer Adolphe Adam (1803-1856).  The famous Ronde du postillon appears at the end of Act I of Le Postillon de Lonjumeau (The Coachman of Lonjumeau), which premiered in Paris in 1836.
